KC-45 Aerial Refueling Tanker
Thompson Engineering was selected by Northrop Grumman as a team member on the KC-45 tanker project in October, 2007. This is a tremendous opportunity to be involved in an international project estimated at $40 billion and is an incredible win for our
company, community, and country. It will mean 1,500 new jobs in Mobile, where
Northrop Grumman and its partner Airbus plan a $600-million assembly complex.
The successful team of Thompson Engineering, KBR and BRPH is currently proposing on the Airbus portion of this contract along with Yates Construction. Decisions on this project are anticipated by the end of June. |

ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless
The ThyssenKrupp $4 Billion investment is the largest private investment in US history and is located just north of Mobile in Calvert, Alabama. Our long term relationship and involvement in this project eventually led to Thompson being selected as the first consultant to work on the site. Currently, we are providing the geotechnical engineering services to ThyssenKrupp, designing a new industrial access road for ALDOT, designing the Pinto Island import terminal for Alabama State Port Authority as well as the Mobile riverside facility. Watermark, our architectural sister-company, was recently contracted to provide architectural services for the AIDT training facility to be located onsite. This project is currently out for bid with construction scheduled for completion in 2009. |
