FY 2012 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Application Period to Open July 16, 2012
Application Period Opens: Monday, July 16, 8 a.m. Eastern Time
Application Deadline: Friday, August 10, 2012, 5 p.m. Eastern Time
Purpose: The SAFER Grants program provides funds to help fire departments and volunteer interest organizations increase or maintain the number of trained, "front line" firefighters available in their communities.
The SAFER Grant Program seeks to assist local fire departments with staffing and deployment capabilities in order to respond to emergencies, assuring communities have adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards.
Grants are available in two categories:

NOTE: All information, including dates and projected application periods are subject to change. When a conference is listed, the AFG Program either will be exhibiting and/or giving a presentation or workshop.
June 11, 2012: FY 2012 AFG Application period opens
FY 2011 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants: Award announcements are underway and will continue until all available grant funds have been committed.
July 6, 2012: Deadline for FY 2012 AFG applications
July 16, 2012, to August 10, 2012, 5 p.m. ET: FY 2012 SAFER Grant Application period
FY 2011 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grants: Award announcements are expected to begin and continue until all available grant funds have been committed.
